Chardas Cattery – Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to every cat boarded at Chardas Country Cattery.
Booking and payment
- New customers’ first booking is confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable deposit. Bookings for existing customers are confirmed when we confirm them to you. By making a booking you accept these terms and conditions.
- Boarding is charged per day, and both the arrival and departure days are charged regardless of drop off and collection times. All bookings are subject to a minimum charge for 3 days.
- The price quoted when your booking is confirmed is the price you pay. Any later price changes will not affect confirmed bookings.
- The balance must be paid in full on collection by cash, debit / credit card or bank transfer. Early collection balances cannot be refunded.
- Cancellation charges:
- within 4 weeks of the booking start date – £25
- within 7 days of the booking start date – 50% of the total booking fee (minimum £25)
- on or after the booking start date – the full booking fee
- Unpaid fees may be recovered through the courts, together with any reasonable costs of recovery.
Arrival and collection
- Cats will only be accepted and released during normal opening hours, at an approximate time arranged in advance.
- Collection outside the agreed time or outside opening hours is by prior agreement only and may incur a late collection charge.
- Cats will only be released to the owner or to a person named at the time of booking. We may ask for photo ID from anyone we do not know.
- Chardas Country Cattery reserves the right to re-home any cat not collected within 28 days of the agreed collection date, unless agreed in advance. Every effort will be made to reach an amicable solution before this happens, and re-homing may be arranged through a recognised rescue organisation. Owners remain liable for full boarding fees until the cat has been re-homed or collected.
Health and vaccinations
- In the interests of your cat’s safety, and in accordance with our licence conditions, we will only accept cats on sight of a valid vaccination certificate. Boosters must have been given at least two weeks before arrival and must not expire during your cat’s stay. Cats having their first vaccinations, or restarting after a missed booster need two doses given three weeks apart and cannot be boarded until four weeks after the second dose, a minimum of seven weeks from the first dose.
- No cat suffering from, or suspected of suffering from, any infectious or contagious disease can be accepted. All cats are examined on arrival, and we reserve the right to refuse admission to any cat pending advice from a veterinary surgeon. This is to safeguard the health of all cats boarded.
- All cats must have been treated for fleas and worms within 48 hours before arrival. Any cat found to have fleas will be treated at the owner’s cost
- We do not accept unneutered males over 6 months of age or females in season.
- All cats over 20 weeks old must be microchipped, as required by law in England. Please note that your cat will be scanned on arrival if we do not already have their microchip number.
- You must tell us about any medical condition, allergy, behavioural issue or history of aggression. We reserve the right to refuse or end a stay where this information has not been given, and we cannot accept liability for any consequences of information not disclosed.
Care during the stay
- Only cats from the same household will share accommodation.
- We will give prescribed oral or topical medication where it is supplied in its original packaging with clear written instructions. We are unable to give injections.
- Owners must supply any prescription or specialist diet their cat needs.
- Bedding, toys, carriers and other belongings are left at the owner’s risk. We cannot accept liability for their loss or damage.
Veterinary treatment
- If, in our opinion, your cat requires veterinary attention during their stay, we will attempt to contact you or your nominated emergency contact to discuss the situation. However, the final decision to seek veterinary treatment rests with us, and you agree to cover all associated costs. Transport to and from your nominated veterinary surgery or our own vet is charged at 50p per mile, but we will not charge for our time.
- You must give us your contact details, an emergency contact and your vet’s details, and tell us if any of these change.
- If we cannot reach you or your emergency contact, you authorise us to agree any treatment your or our vet considers necessary. In the event of serious illness or injury, this includes euthanasia where the vet advises it is in your cat’s best interests.
- In the unlikely event that your cat dies during their stay, we will contact you immediately. Your cat will be kept by your nominated veterinary surgery or our own vet pending your instructions, and a post-mortem can be arranged at your request and cost.
- We strongly recommend that you keep your cat insured. Many pet insurance policies cover vet fees incurred while boarding.
Liability
- The health, safety, security and comfort of your cat are of paramount importance to us. However, we cannot accept liability for loss, illness, injury or death during your cat’s stay, except where caused by our negligence or breach of these terms. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
- We hold public liability insurance and care, custody and control insurance, as required by our licence. This covers our legal liability for cats in our care, including where loss or injury is caused by our negligence. It does not cover illness or pre-existing conditions, and is not a substitute for your own pet insurance.
Your information
- We hold your personal details only to manage your booking and your cat’s care, in line with UK data protection law. We share them only with our vet where needed, and keep them only for as long as our licence conditions require.
- We may share photos of our guests on social media. Please tell us if you would prefer us not to include your cat.
